East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline Convening

This is a 3 day East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline Convening. The purpose of this event is to bring together local civil society actors, as well as selected local government leaders from Uganda and Tanzania to learn, share information and strategize to effectively promote communities’ rights along the proposed East Africa Crude Oil pipeline in a coordinated manner.

    Event Objectives:
    1. To facilitate cross-country communication and relationship building for civil society in Uganda and Tanzania in order to establish a coordinated network of civil society actors on petroleum development 2. To provide lessons on priority issues from pipeline projects elsewhere to regional civil society actors, in order to raise awareness and facilitate identification of key pipeline-related issues for civil society engagement in East Africa 3. To generate a strategy for pipeline advocacy and engagement in order to guide subsequent civil society work in both countries.
