Developments in Uganda’s Extractive industry are impacting people’s social, economic, cultural and political lives. It is important to understand the ways in which men and women are impacted by these developments in the oil, gas and mining sector. Over the past 4 years, GRA has spearheaded gender inclusion in Uganda’s natural resource governance and youth participation.
Working in Buliisa, Hoima, Tororo and Mubende districts, GRA interventions have increased participation of women in demanding for social accountability in the extractives sector and promoting and securing women’s property rights and livelihoods.
Today, over 50 women and men are monitoring developments in the oil sector and addressing local challenges as they emerge, thus creating sustainability.
