GRA launches “Our Land Our Bank” Report

Global Rights Alert launched its report titled "Our land Our Bank" on March 13 2014 in Kyapaloni, Hoima district.

The report which focuses on the gender issues in Uganda's Resettlement Action Plan, highlights challenges faced by the women of Kabaale who will be relocated to pave way for the construction of the oil refinery.

Though the relocation process will affect both men and women, the women face the hardest burden. The restrictive practices which make it hard for women to own land,  makes it harder for them to negotiate for payments made on the land and yet it's where they derive their livelihoods.

The launch was a platform for sharing findings and also presents various political leaders with an opportunity to hear grievances of the populance and forward them to other policy makers. Tophace Kaahwa the Woman Mp for Hoima District launched the report.
