Media Visits & Community Debates

The media plays a critical role in channelling information and as such GRA has built a strong relationship with the media fraternity, which has made it easy for the organisation to relay information on human and community resource rights. In the month of February, GRA organised 5 radio debates in the districts of Kyotera, Rakai, Ssembabule, Kikuube and Buliisa. The community debates brought together district officials, legal practitioners from Justice Centres Uganda and project affected persons to discuss compensation and land administration challenges communities are facing and also devise mitigation strategies. The engagements unearthed some of the salient problems around land such as limited knowledge on letters of administration. Through working with the media, the issues from the debates were aired on radio and Television, stories captured in the newspapers all in effort to create awareness and promote community resource rights.
